⚠️ Warning for cyclists in Flemish Brabant:
From December 2025 to mid-March 2026, the cycle network will be upgraded to improve safety and comfort. Please bear in mind that the cycle map, junctions, online planner and Icoon cycle routes may differ from the situation on the ground. From 23 March 2026, the updated network will once again be fully and correctly signposted.

VISIT Flemish Brabant is revising the cycle network by spring 2026. Five years after the complete renewal of the cycle network, the focus of this revision is on improving safety and comfort.
What is changing?
The current cycle network will remain in place. Across the province, some routes will be re-routed where a safer and/or more comfortable alternative is available. A limited number of additional routes (1 per cent) and junctions will be included to improve access to tourist attractions.
The Iconic Cycle Routes, which are based on the junctions, will follow the changes to the junctions in Flemish Brabant.
What does this mean for you as a cyclist?
- Until the end of November 2025: you can cycle anywhere in Flemish Brabant using the cycle map or the online route planner
- December 2025 – mid-March 2026: we will be making a number of changes to the cycle network.
- January – mid-March 2026: we will update the signposting for the Iconic Cycle Routes in a few places.
- On 23 March, the works will be completed and the revised network will be officially launched.
During the works, you cannot rely on signposting in all areas: on some sections, it has been removed or relocated, or the junctions no longer connect with one another.
What about the cycle map and route planners?
You can still use the current cycle map without any problems until December 2025. The new cycle map will be available from 23 March 2026. The route planners will be updated with the revised routes from March 2026.
Roadworks along the cycle network?
Roadworks may result in sections of the cycle network being temporarily closed and unsuitable for cycling. In such cases, the cycle network will be diverted for the duration of the works. These diversions are indicated by orange diversion signs.
You can find the most up-to-date information on roadworks and diversions on the cycle junction planner. Roadworks are indicated by an orange area. By clicking on them, you’ll get information about the duration of the roadworks and the planned diversion. This way, you can take them into account when planning your cycle route.
