Is “lambic” a corruption of the village name Lembeek? Or of the French word “alambic,” meaning a still? We don’t know for sure, but we do know that in Lembeek and the Zenne Valley, lambic beers are still brewed in abundance according to time-honored tradition. This walk along the Zenne and the Brussels-Charleroi Canal is an introduction to the Zenne village of Lembeek. Along the way, you’ll visit the Malakoff Estate with its mysterious ruined tower. It’s not as old as you might think.
