From Scherpenheuvel to Zichem and back. Of course, you’ll first step inside the Basilica of Our Lady, whose dome is covered in lead and adorned with 298 seven-pointed gold stars. Next, you’ll walk along the railroad tracks of the “Boemelke,” the train that used to run between Scherpenheuvel and Zichem. The Witte Monument was erected in honor of the 100th edition of Ernest Claes’s book *De Witte*. Climb the Maagdentoren and admire the meandering Demer River.
