Winding paths lead you past old trees and reflecting ponds of the English landscape park to the neoclassical castle Ter Rijst. You literally walk over centuries of history, including remnants of a Roman pilgrimage path and traces of a medieval castle. The castle itself took its elegant form in the 19th century, when Viscount Théodore de Neulant de Pottelsberghe had the towers demolished and began a renovation. Today the castle is a bistro-restaurant and B&B where you can dine, linger or stay overnight with a view of the park.
Practical
Dogs on a leash are allowed in the park Ter Rijst. They are not allowed in the forest reserve because of the deer population.
With a fishing permit in your pocket, you may fish on the large pond; you may not fish on the small pond or the pond arms.
