The grinding mechanism of this mill on the Maelbeek is still intact and you can regularly attend a grain grinding demonstration. Indeed, the Liermolen is part of the MOT, the Museum of Old Techniques in Grimbergen. The mill was once owned by the de Lire family until the Abbey of Grimbergen bought it in 1341. The present building dates from the 17th and 18th centuries and is a lively museum site. In the open depot you will be amazed by the collection of carts and wagons.
