The Necropolis of Grimde is a unique and serene memorial site in Tienen, housed in the former 13th century St. Peter's Church. During World War I, 140 Belgian soldiers were buried here who died during the fighting around Grimde in 1914. Today, the site is an impressive monument of silence, history and remembrance. The sober graves, the extraordinary stained glass windows and the historical atmosphere make the Necropolis an exceptional place that touches visitors and invites them to reflect.
