The Church of Our Lady of Aarschot is a monumental landmark in Demergotiek, recognizable by its warm brown-red ironstone. The church took shape in the 14th and 15th centuries. In the tower, the "speklagen" of light limestone and dark ironstone stand out. Inside, the atmosphere is intimate, with highlights including the late Gothic Brabant rood screen and the retable "The Mystic Wine Press. Since 2018, the 51 bells of the peace carillon have sounded over the city, a lasting reminder of the end of World War I.
