The best way to explore the Walenbos is with a brisk walk, with boots. Because this vast nature reserve with the largest alder brook forest in Flanders feels wet, rough and untouched. Boggy paths, grasslands and swampy forests make every walk an adventure. Those who move slowly and quietly spot deer, birds of prey, black woodpeckers or woodcock here. Together with the neighboring Troostembergbos, the Walenbos forms a unique green area of about 500 hectares.
