Hermits cultivated wine on the Kluisberg in Assent centuries ago. Since 1984, Jos Vanlaer has been doing just that, with the help of his wife Daniëlla and his children and grandchildren. Together they roll up their sleeves in the 8-hectare vineyard and some 25,000 vines. It makes the Kluisberg wine estate a true family business. With müller-thurgau, pinot gris, chardonnay, merlot and other grape varieties, the Vanlaer family produces white, red and rosé wines.
