With your motorhome among the vines

In the morning, you step out of your motorhome. The sun peeps over the Hageland hilltop, warming the dewdrops on the vine leaves. The valley below comes alive, but you take your time. You settle on the wine terrace and watch the sun climb higher, giving the ripening grapes another boost.

Wine Chalet

Can you see it as before you? Wine grower Daniël Vandervaeren set up nine camper spaces on his vineyard near the Houwaertseberg. Power is available close to the residence, but those who can manage without it can spend the night among the grape vines. "The view from the wine terrace is magnificent," agrees Daniel himself. " In the evening I open my wine chalet when it gets too chilly. There I like to tell my guests all about wine growing, over a nice glass of our own wine, of course. While they tell me about their travels throughout Europe. There is always a vacation atmosphere."

"The idea came from my daughter, who likes to travel by mobile home herself. She often camps with farmers in the most beautiful places. 'Dad, you have such a beautiful vineyard yourself, why don't you offer places too,' she suggested. Great idea, I thought. From my own, old caravan, I made a cool playhouse for children."

A thousand bottles

The small wine estate - barely a thousand bottles a year - has a surprisingly wide range of wines from grape varieties such as pinot gris, pinot blanc, bacchus, dornfelder, pinot noir, regent, zweigelt and riesling. With these he makes white, red, rosé and sparkling wines.
