A stylish white country house with castle allure, surrounded by forest and vineyards. It looks like you've landed somewhere on a wine estate in the Loire Valley, but Kasteel Haksberg is simply located in Tielt-Winge.
Leading lady
Entrepreneur Jeffrey de Schutter immediately saw the potential when he first visited the castle several years ago. He bought the estate in 2022 and had the castle and former hunting lodge thoroughly refurbished into elegant vacation accommodation and event venue. The vineyards were already there, viticulturist and biologist Hilde Rutten stayed on board as the leading lady of the Haksberg wine estate.
Pure nature
"I didn't know much about wine," Jeffrey admits with a laugh. "But winemaker Hilde's passion is contagious. She makes the very best wines and that purely natural, without herbicides. That's no lie: our red wines Carduela and Rocopo were voted the best wines in the country last year."
Taste them on the estate's large wine terrace, overlooking the vines. Your lodging's wine cabinet, by the way, is always well-stocked. Dry white, sweet dessert wine, a semi-dry rosé, award-winning red, or with bubbles. Plenty of choice!
