An encounter with Overijse
The regional product of Overijse? The table grape, of course. Once there were 35,000 greenhouses in the Druivenstreek, today you walk or cycle past the most beautiful greenhouses. In the Dru!f visitors' center you dive into the history of the grape, with even an authentic serrist's uniform that you may put on.
On the edge of the Sonian Forest is Jesus Oak, grown around a miraculous oak tree and today a gastronomic spot with a handsome baroque church and cultural house De Bosuil. Along the Lake of Overijse-Genval you walk between belle-époque houses and quiet waterfronts.
Overijse also surprises with the modernist sanatorium in Tombeek and with Terlanen, small but big in landscape, with the infamous Moskesstraat as a calf bite for cycling enthusiasts.
"Here, cycling heroes toil and taste the tastiest table grapes."
