When Joos Frans Lindemans married brewer's daughter Francisca in 1822, he sowed the seeds of Lindemans Brewery. Six generations later, cousins Dirk and Geert Lindemans lead a team of employees in the largest independent family-owned lambic brewery in the country, firmly rooted in the region.

Story
Lindemans Brewery has its roots deep in Pajottenland, in the hamlet of Kwadewegen in Vlezenbeek. Already in the 16th century, the Hof ter Kwadewegen was an inn along the busy route between Brussels, East Flanders and Hainaut. During the winter months, beer was brewed there to keep the farmers working and to quench their thirst. In 1822, the Lindemans family moved in when Joos Frans Lindemans married the brewer's daughter Francisca Josina Vandermissen. Thus began a family tradition that has continued today for six generations.
Today, cousins Dirk and Geert Lindemans run the largest independent family-run lambic brewery in the country. Based on tradition but also innovative, Lindemans was the first to launch a kriek beer without alcohol. The Kriek 0.0% contains just as many pressed cherries as the alcoholic variety, the aromas are the same, only the alcohol is missing.
Lindemans is firmly rooted in the region, also through club life: since 2015, they have proudly been the main sponsor of the Lindemans Aalst volleyball team. Sustainability is also high on the agenda. Every year they organize the Lindemans Lambic Trail on Car Free Sunday, to promote sustainable mobility. By the way, Lindemans just invested in a brand new satellite brewery in Ruisbroek to ensure growth. Close to the Brussels-Charleroi Canal, so transportation can also be by water. In this way, this century-old brewery remains not only local, but also socially relevant.

A professional guide will explain the region, the history of the brewery and the mysterious and unique process of brewing lambic. The tour is followed by a tasting and afterwards you will receive a surprise to take home.
