Juicy grapes and stately beech trees
Hoeilaart is a gateway to the Sonian Forest, more than 4,400 hectares in size and known for its impressive beech trees. You start at the Jan van Ruusbroec Forest Museum, where you will learn the story of this noble forest. In the center stands the 15th-century castle that now houses the town hall, surrounded by the Jan Van Ruusbroeck Park. Grape growing remains alive and kicking with serrists Mia Michiels and Erik Van Camp, and at the old streetcar station, the Nero café pays tribute to Hoeilaart's most famous resident.
