Story
After almost thirty years of hibernation, brewery Eylenbosch is bubbling and bubbling again in full force. Founded in 1886 in Schepdaal by Emile Eylenbosch, the brewery grew into one of the most important lambic breweries in the country. In the 1990s, the doors closed, but brewer Erik De Keermaeker, the son of brewers, did not leave it at that. Together with young engineer-brewer Klaas Vanderpoorten and college friend Jeroen Lettens, he breathed new life into Eylenbosch.
Since 2023, their lambic beers are back on the market: Oude Geuze, Oude Lambiek, Oude Kriek, Schaarbeek Oude Kriek and Wild Blond. They also brew a diverse range of specialty beers.
The iconic brewery in Schepdaal has made way for housing and stores, but Eylenbosch found a clever solution. They brew in the boilers of De Troch in Wambeek and let the wort mature in the 17th-century barn of the idyllic Hof van Piemont in Zellik, on oak casks. And soon again in Schepdaal, where the three friends bought the cellar space as a barrel room. The offices and young orchard with Schaarbeek chickpeas can be found in and around the Brouwershuis in Kobbegem, a charming belle-epoque residence.
