It was once a farm brewery that supplied beer to the inn on the edge of Gaasbeek Castle Park. Bob de Brouwer has breathed new life into that brewing tradition. As well as lambic beers, he also brews speciality beers such as the Rosten Uil tripel and the summer beer Maurice 1929, a nod to his great-grandfather, winner of the Tour in 1929. Bob uses grain from local farmers, hops from the Order of the Green Bell and sour cherries from the region. The brewery’s terrace is the perfect place to stop off during the Wildegisten walk or a cycle ride.

Story
Nestled amongst the rolling hills of the Pajot region, close to Napoleon’s triumphal arch in Gaasbeek Castle Park, lies a beautiful square farmstead. One with a rich history of beer, as the farm was once home to the ’t Guldenhooft farm brewery, which has been on the map since 1694. Bob Huysman – alias Bob de Brouwer – bought the farm, which was then in a state of disrepair, and breathed new life into the brewing tradition.
As well as lambic beers such as kriek and geuze, he also brews speciality beers such as the tripel Rosten Uil, the Rosten Uil Barrel Aged and the refreshing summer beer Maurice 1929. This last beer is a tribute to his great-grandfather Maurice De Waele, who won the Tour de France in 1929.
Bob works as locally as possible: grain and cherries from local farmers and hops from the Order of the Green Bell. He has also planted an orchard with 30 Schaerbeek cherry trees, which will soon be yielding their own cherries.
The farmstead, with its inviting terrace, is also a unique spot to stop off for a while during a walk or a gravel bike ride through the region. Events are held regularly, ranging from tastings and teambuilding sessions to private parties. Authentic heritage with modern comforts, and always with a good glass of beer within easy reach.

Bob the Brewer is happy to take you behind the scenes, but by appointment only. Guided tours are available for groups of 8 or more people.

Bar
From spring onwards, the brewery opens its doors on Friday and Sunday afternoons. You can enjoy a drink on the cosy terrace or in the tasting room. Traditionally, a brewery concert is held on the first Friday in September.
