Timmermans Brewery is the world’s oldest lambic brewery, in operation since 1702 and deeply intertwined with village life in Itterbeek. Here, lambic is still matured in the traditional way, in the finest foeders and the largest cooling vessel in the whole of Lambiekland. Alongside classics such as Oude Geuze and Oude Kriek, Timmermans is innovating with surprises such as kriek beer with black pepper or lambic with wheat beer herbs. Story
The world’s oldest lambic brewery? That claim isn’t just printed on the labels of Timmermans Brewery for no reason. Since 1702, lambic has been brewed here in Itterbeek, just outside Brussels, using authentic, traditional methods. Today, this is still done during the winter months, using the region’s largest traditional cooling vessel and finest foeders. Much of the brewing equipment, as well as the brewery itself, is recognised as valuable protected heritage.
Timmermans is proud of its classics such as Oude Gueuze and Oude Kriek, but is also not afraid to innovate. For example, the brewery surprises with a kriek beer featuring black pepper and the Lambicus Blanche, a young lambic enriched with herbs typical of Belgian white beers. At the brand-new Immersive Lambic Experience visitor centre, you’ll learn absolutely everything about the beers and the brewery! It opens in March 2026.
The brewery is deeply intertwined with village life in Itterbeek and Dilbeek. Everyone from the village is welcome at the annual New Year’s reception in the brewery’s function room. Local associations rely on Timmermans’ support, and many walks through the Pajottenland set off from there.

The guided tour takes you to the Immersive Lambic Experience visitor centre, the brewhouse with its historic stirring vat, and the largest original cooling vessel in the region. You’ll finish with a tasting session.

Sun on your face, a delicious lambic in your hand, the smell of a barbecue… and above all: no worries. With family, friends or for a fun teambuilding event: it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy each other’s company in a unique and relaxed atmosphere.
