Timmermans Brewery is the world's oldest lambic brewery, active since 1702 and intertwined with village life in Itterbeek. Here, lambic still matures in the traditional way, in the finest casks and the largest cooling vessel in all of lambic country. In addition to the classics like Oude Geuze and Oude Kriek, Timmermans innovates with surprises like cherry beer with black pepper or lambic with white beer spices. Story
The world's oldest lambic brewery? That's not what it says on the labels of Timmermans Brewery. Since 1702, lambic has been brewed here in Itterbeek, just outside Brussels, according to authentic, artisanal methods. Today, this is still done in the winter months, with the largest traditional cooling vessel and the finest casks in the region. Much of the brewing equipment as well as the brewery itself have been recognized as valuable protected heritage.
Timmermans is proud of its classics such as Oude Gueuze and Oude Kriek, but also dares to innovate. Thus, the brewery surprises with a cherry beer with black pepper and the Lambicus Blanche, a young lambic enriched with herbs typical of Belgian white beers. At the brand-new Immersive Lambic Experience visitor center, you can really learn all about the beers and the brewery! It opens in March 2026.
The brewery is deeply intertwined with village life in Itterbeek and Dilbeek. The annual New Year's reception in the brewery's ballroom welcomes everyone from the village. Local associations count on Timmermans' support and many walks through the Pajottenland depart from there.
